Our beliefs

Basic Doctrine

The Bible is the inspired and authoritative word of God.
There is one God, Creator of all, eternally existing in three persons; the Father, the Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is truly God and truly man. We believe in his virgin birth, sinless life and miracles; that he died on the cross and rose bodily from the grave, in order to reconcile people to God.
All people are born sinful and, apart from the grace of God, are eternally lost. Salvation is through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord, and is publicly expressed by baptism in water.
The Holy Spirit is God and is God’s life within us to enable us to live like Jesus. He makes available to us God’s power and spiritual gifts so that we can continue the ministry of Jesus.
The church, Gods hope for the world, is Gods community on earth, and is commissioned by Christ to make disciples
We believe in the historicity of the Christian tradition represented by the Apostles and Nicene Creed

Worship: living a lifestyle that seeks to honour God in all that we are and all that we do

Word of God: as an absolute and guiding framework that needs to be continually developed and expressed in the life of the believer
Passionate Spirituality: being influenced by the Holy Spirit that we may be prophetic in nature, actively pursuing Gods presence to develop maturity of character and lifestyle
Church as community: we see church as the community of Gods family, first evidenced in the trinity
Valuing People: we respect the intrinsic value and dignity of every person as being created in the image of God
Burden for the Lost: we continue the mission of Jesus who came to seek and save the lost
Unity: we are committed to expressing the heart of Jesus that His people would be One, celebrating unity through diversity

Relationship: the means by which we are called to build together as the family of God where people share life in open and transparent relationships
Everyone a Minister: we recognize that each person is specifically gifted by God to be a servant and an essential and functioning part of the “body of Christ”
Empowering leadership: an equipping and releasing style of leadership that creates an environment of trust, involvement and maturity
Creativity: a special characteristic of Northcity where diverse forms of worship and creative expression are valued and developed
Community service: expressing Gods heart through serving in whatever ways are appropriate in the wider community
Relevant and Real: we are determined to be relevant to this generation in our demonstration and communication of our faith, outworked through love
Freedom and Accountability: balancing the freedom we have in Christ with being accountable, sensitive and trustworthy in all that we do
